About me

I have a background in literature and international trade, as well as many years of experience as a consultant with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and as an analyst for the federal government. Eventually, my passion for humans and human psychology led me to the Creative Non-directive Approach method (CNDA™) of Colette Portelance (CNDA™) of Colette Portelance.

I had the privilege of completing a rigorous 3-year professional training in Helping Relationships™ from the Centre de Relation d’Aide de Montréal (CRAM) which led me to a deeper sense of well-being and self-acceptance.

After obtaining my diploma in Counseling through the CNDA™ in 2018, I began guiding many clients on their own journey towards greater well-being and a greater sense of who they really are.

CREATIVE NON DIRECTIVE APPROACH (CNDA)

About Colette Portelance

Colette Portelance is a certified Helping Relationships Therapist with CNDA and pedagogue. She also holds a doctorate in educational sciences from the University of Montreal and the University of Paris.md

Also well known as an author and speaker, Portelance developed her own psychological/ pedagogical concepts of the Helping Relationship. These became the foundation of a new approach called the Creative Non-Directive Approach(CDNA TM)TM), which is discussed in her many publications. Those concepts are also taught in her schools, such as the ‘Centre de Relation d’aide de Montréal’ (CRAM)TMin Montreal, Quebec, Gatineau and Brussels.

Together with François Lavigne, she co-founded the Centre de Relation d’Aide de Montréal (CRAM TM) and developed the training programs taught in her schools today.

What is CNDA?

(CREATIVE NON DIRECTIVE APPROACH)

The Creative Non-Directive Approach® (CNDA) has been created by Colette Portelance in the 80s. The CNDA™ is an affective, relationship-based approach that fosters creativity through respect for a person’s overall psychological makeup, for his/her rate of progress from one stage to another, for the process of change and for his/her self-creation. It is an emotional approach, which takes place in a professional setting.

CNDA Helping Relationship

Like the Rogerian approach the CNDA™ helping relationship is a humanistic approach that is centered on the person. Based on Rogers’ theory that each individual carries the potential for his own fulfillment within himself. The CNDA philosophy and coaching intervention allow the client to express their difficulties and aspirations and to be guided towards their well-being.

A Creative Approach

The CNDA™ is creative in that it promotes the autonomy of the person being helped and propels them towards greater self-realization, freedom of being and expression, deeper satisfaction, the leveraging of their uniqueness, and the fulfillment of their full potential, on all levels.

Clients’ Testimonials

« My individual therapy sessions by telephone with Ms. Lemieux were beneficial and granted to me quickly despite the pandemic. Ms. Lemieux’s interventions were carried out with professionalism, in an attitude of respect and attentive listening. Her authentic support allowed me very early in the process to take the steps towards emotional and mental healing and to restore balance in my life. I will always be grateful to her. »

« I consulted Danielle following a difficult breakup at a difficult time in my life. My emotions were on edge, and I saw no way out. Danielle knew how to welcome me warmly and I immediately felt understood. She helped me see my emotional functioning and the low self-esteem I had. I felt welcomed, understood, and heard during our meetings on Zoom. She helped me find ways within myself to manage my emotions and improve my way of being by asserting myself more, by daring to set limits with others and by helping me to get out of negative judgment of myself. Danielle taught me to listen to what I live and to accept myself with my strengths and my flaws but always with kindness. Danielle is truly a great therapist and I thank her from the bottom of my heart. »

« I have found Ms. Lemieux to be sensitive, an amazing listener and so supportive. Her suggestions were practical and wise. She has such a warm personality, and I was impressed by her expertise and more importantly helped with my panic attacks which are now things of the past. I am so appreciative for her help. »
